The 1998 Education Act gives parents freedom of choice of school providing that places are available. All schools have a catchment area and children living within that area are given preference in deciding admissions to the school.
Before your child starts at St Thomas Junior School, you should fill in an Admission Form (see the link below) which is checked when a place is given. You may visit the school prior to admission by arrangement with the Headteacher.
Children who areoffered a place for joining in Y3 will be invited to visit on transition day, as well as extra visits arranged between St Thomas' and the infant schools. You will also be invited to an openafternoon/information session.
Admissions to the school are controlled by Wakefield Local Authority (the Education Committee of the District Council). Each September at this school, up to 105 pupils can be admitted in each year group (Year 3 to Year 6). This is the admission limit set by the Authority.
